The Customer Challenge

This key Australian Federal Government department is required to quickly adapt to environmental changes while continuing to achieve departmental strategic priorities and strengthen internal capabilities. Operating in a dynamic environment, the department is committed to strengthening its systems and processes, in particular for corporate services, this includes automating key corporate processes and systems; integrating and managing information assets; working with other government agencies to deliver enabling services as part of the Shared and Common Services programme.

This responsibility required the close management of the relationship between the delivery of ‘business as usual’ corporate functions and services, and concurrently delivering key strategic and transformational corporate initiatives and while managing organisational change impacts. To address this challenge, a Corporate Programme Office function was established in the department to provide decision support and delivery for organisational change programmes, projects and activities.
